Fashion Icon: A Princess Bride

As we are a new blog, I am still figuring out what recurring features we will have. This is the first post of our Fashion Icon series and I could think of no better person to start with than Grace Kelly. Each of our fashion icons will be inspirational women both from the past and present who have influenced fashion over the years.

Known for her patrician beauty, Grace Kelly made her film debut in 1951 and was only in the public’s eye for five short years before she shocked the world with her unexpected engagement to Prince Rainier of Monaco.

In a fairytale come true, Grace and Rainier were married on April 18th, 1956 with the memorable church ceremony the following day. Her wedding gown was designed by Academy award winning Helen Rose. The gown fit for a princess used twenty-five yards of silk taffeta, twenty-five years of silk gros de longre, and three hundred yards of antique Valenciennes lace.

With her classic beauty, poise, and elegant style, Grace Kelly is still a true inspiration for the modern bride of today.
